Revenue Tax Auditor – Field Audit Sales Tax Division

About the role

The Louisiana Department of Revenue seeks a Revenue Tax Auditor to join its Field Audit Sales Tax Division. The auditor will conduct complex in‑state and out‑of‑state field audits, ensuring compliance with Louisiana tax laws while delivering high‑quality customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Perform field audits of large, complex businesses and corporations across multiple tax types, including corporate income, franchise, personal income, sales/use, and others.
• Coordinate and execute tax audits both within Louisiana and in other U.S. metropolitan areas.
• Independently examine financial statements, accounting records, tax reports, and operational processes to determine correct tax liability.
• Travel as required to conduct examinations of national and international corporations.

Required profile

• Three years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing, OR six years of full‑time experience plus 24 semester hours in accounting.
• Bachelor’s degree with 24 semester hours in accounting, OR a degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics.
• Advanced degree in a related field, a Juris Doctorate, CPA license, or current Louisiana law license is acceptable.
• Experience substitution allowed: 30 semester hours = one year of experience, up to 120 semester hours.
