Retail Pharmacy Technician

About the role

The Retail Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacy team by managing inventory, processing prescriptions, assisting customers, and handling cash transactions in a busy medical office environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain Legend and OTC inventory, stock vials, caps, bags, and over‑the‑counter shelves.
• Process prescriptions, input data into the computer system, run refills, and perform price checks.
• Answer phones promptly, assist customers with OTC purchases, and provide medication information.
• Obtain medication from shelves, count, label, and verify National Drug Code numbers.
• Handle refill authorizations, perform simple pharmacy calculations, and conduct monthly inspections for outdated items.
• Assist with pharmacy and hospital improvement activities and perform routine cleaning of the counter area.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of pharmacy experience preferred (not required).
• Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred; must be registered or have applied for registration before start date.
• Ability to stand, walk stairs for 50% of shift, and lift up to 25 lb.
• Considerable mental concentration for completing duties.
