Patient Services Representative – Orthopedics & Podology

About the role

The Patient Services Representative is the first point of contact for patients in the Orthopedics and Podology departments. You will create a welcoming environment, collect essential information, and guide patients through registration and insurance processes.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and enter accurate demographic and insurance information into the EHR system.
• Verify insurance coverage, obtain pre‑authorizations, and explain benefits and financial responsibilities to patients.
• Answer phones promptly, provide exceptional customer service, and assist patients with the online portal.
• Collect co‑pays, deductibles, and balance payments according to hospital policy.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and ensure regulatory requirements are met.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; additional medical receptionist training preferred.
• At least six months of office, call‑center, customer service, or healthcare experience.
• Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association) required.
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, and lift up to 10 lb; assist patients in wheelchairs.
