About the role
The Illinois Department of Corrections is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide direct nursing care to individuals incarcerated at the Pontiac Correctional Center. This full‑time, salaried position works on rotating shifts and requires a detail‑oriented, compassionate professional.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care, including assessments, medication administration, and wound care, to inmates.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with correctional health regulations.
- Collaborate with physicians, mental health staff, and correctional officers to coordinate patient care.
- Participate in shift rotations covering evenings and nights, with designated days off.
Required profile
- Valid Illinois Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification.
- Experience in a clinical or correctional health setting is preferred.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including evenings and nights.
