Patient Services Representative – Float Pool (Part‑Time)

About the role

The Patient Services Representative works in a float pool, providing flexible support across various departments. This part‑time position involves greeting patients, collecting information, and guiding them through the initial steps of their healthcare experience.

Key responsibilities

• Create a welcoming environment and assist patients throughout their early healthcare journey.
• Collect and enter accurate demographic and insurance information into the system.
• Verify insurance coverage, obtain pre‑authorizations, and explain benefits and financial responsibilities.
• Answer phones promptly, provide exceptional customer service, and maintain HIPAA compliance.
• Collect co‑pays, deductibles, and balance payments according to hospital policy.
• Assist patients with the online patient portal and adapt to shifting work assignments.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• At least six months of office, call‑center, customer service, or healthcare experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, lift up to 10 lb, and assist patients in wheelchairs.

Required skills

• Data entry proficiency.
• Basic computer operation and familiarity with standard office equipment.
