Registered Respiratory Therapist – PRN

About the role

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (PRN) provides respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to patients of all ages, from neonatal to geriatric, in both inpatient and outpatient settings at OLG St. Martin Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures, including oxygen therapy, artificial ventilation, and airway management.
• Draw, analyze, and report arterial blood gases and EKGs.
• Deliver intermittent therapy, assist with artificial airway changes, and document all clinical information.
• Educate patients and co‑workers on procedures and treatment plans.

Required profile

• Current state license as a Respiratory Therapist.
• National Board of Respiratory Care certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities.

Required skills

• Respiratory therapy procedures (oxygen therapy, ventilation, airway management).
• Arterial blood gas analysis and EKG interpretation.
• Computer proficiency with Windows‑style applications and data entry.
• Knowledge of hospital policies, federal/state regulations, and compliance standards.
