Registered Nurse – Medical Oncology (A-Shift or P-Shift)

About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide direct patient care in the Medical Oncology unit at Phelps Health Hospital. This position works on either the A‑Shift or P‑Shift and supports safe, high‑quality care for patients undergoing cancer treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Follow hospital policies for patient safety, infection prevention, safe handling, and critical lab notification.
• Maintain and care for central lines, prevent surgical site infections, and administer medications.
• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, document care activities, and communicate findings to physicians and the care team.
• Educate patients and families, delegate tasks appropriately, and foster teamwork.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current RN license in Missouri (or Compact licensure) – graduate nurses must be licensed within 90 days.
• One year of nursing experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lb and perform frequent walking and other physical tasks.

Required skills

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
