Registered Nurse – Medical Oncology (0.9 FTE, A-Shift)

About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide direct patient care in the Medical Oncology unit at Phelps Health Hospital, working a 0.9 full‑time A‑Shift schedule. The role focuses on delivering safe, high‑quality nursing care while supporting patients and families throughout treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Follow hospital policies for patient safety, infection prevention, and safe handling.
• Maintain and care for central lines, prevent surgical site infections, and administer medications.
• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, document care, and communicate findings to the healthcare team.
• Educate patients and families, delegate tasks appropriately, and foster teamwork.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current RN license in Missouri (or Compact licensure).
• One year of nursing experience preferred; graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lb and perform frequent walking and other physical tasks.

Required skills

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) competency.
