Registered Nurse – Emergency Medicine – Night Shift

About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Emergency Medicine provides direct patient care on the night shift at Ochsner's St. Mary Campus. The role involves applying the nursing process, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring high‑quality outcomes for a diverse patient population.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members while maintaining accountability for patient outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the care team, adapting explanations to cultural and individual needs.
• Participate in unit and department strategic initiatives and quality improvement activities.

Required profile

• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• RN diploma (associate or bachelor's degree preferred).
• No prior work experience required.
• Commitment to obtaining ACLS and PALS certifications within 90 days of hire.

Required skills

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification.
• Computer proficiency with standard software and web‑based applications.
