Regional Medical Scientific Director (MSL) – COPD/Respiratory

About the role

The Regional Medical Scientific Director (Medical Science Liaison) for COPD/Respiratory will serve as a scientific bridge between MSD and key opinion leaders across the New England region. This senior position requires a PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD and focuses on scientific exchange, research support, and congress activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain professional relationships with national and regional scientific leaders, providing balanced, factual scientific information on COPD and related therapeutic areas.
• Facilitate peer‑to‑peer scientific discussions, respond to scientific inquiries, and direct questions outside scope to appropriate internal resources.
• Identify and engage potential investigators for clinical studies, conduct site initiation visits, and help overcome enrollment barriers.
• Support scientific congresses and medical meetings by presenting data, exchanging information, and gathering insights.
• Collect and relay scientific insights from field activities to inform internal strategies.

Required profile

• PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD with at least 3 years of therapeutic‑area experience in COPD/Respiratory beyond the terminal degree.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and networking abilities.
• Ability to conduct doctoral‑level scientific discussions and adhere to FDA, OIG, HIPAA, GCP, and other regulatory guidelines.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% within the assigned territory and reside in the region.
