Police Investigator – Law Enforcement

About the role
The LSU Police Department is seeking a dedicated Police Investigator to join its Investigations Division. This position may be performed in uniform or plain‑clothes and involves comprehensive criminal investigations across the LSU campus and affiliated facilities.
Key responsibilities
- Investigate crimes, collect and preserve evidence, and make criminal arrests.
- Testify in court and provide detailed investigative reports.
- Conduct surveillance operations, interview witnesses, victims, and suspects.
- Serve as liaison with university administrators, law‑enforcement partners, and other agencies.
- Lead crime‑scene management, directing uniformed personnel, maintaining logs, and securing witnesses.
- Participate in hazardous‑materials and crisis‑intervention response teams as needed.
- Assist other law‑enforcement agencies with investigative matters and support crime‑prevention initiatives.
Required profile
- Ability to work rotating shifts to support campus safety.
- Experience or training in law‑enforcement investigations, evidence handling, and courtroom testimony.
- Strong communication skills for coordination with supervisors, administrators, and external agencies.
- Willingness to serve on specialized response teams (hazardous materials, crisis intervention).
