Piping Designer

About the role

The Piping Designer is responsible for creating and maintaining piping system designs for major projects. Working under the supervision of a senior engineer or lead designer, the role involves using computer‑aided design tools to produce accurate drawings and ensure compliance with company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed designs, drawings, and structures for piping systems using CAD software.
• Maintain quality, content, and design standards across all deliverables.
• Coordinate scheduling and allocate work among designers and drafters to meet project priorities.
• Identify and resolve design problems within standard practices, typically within one to two days.
• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to exchange information and ensure design accuracy.
• Develop cost‑effective solutions while adhering to budget constraints.
• Investigate and propose improvements to existing design techniques and procedures.

Required profile

• Technical or trade school education in a relevant field.
• Experience level varies by position: IV (entry), III (2 years), II (4 years), I (6 years).
• Ability to work under close supervision and follow detailed directions.
• Strong analytical skills to diagnose and solve design issues.
• Effective communication with colleagues, supervisors, and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer‑aided design (CAD) tools.
• Knowledge of piping system design principles and standards.
