About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Physicist/Scientist to lead the definition and development of novel inspection and metrology systems that support next‑generation semiconductor and display technologies. The role combines experimental physics, data analysis, and system engineering to drive innovative solutions for customers worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Define novel inspection system concepts, configurations, and system requirements.
• Design, engineer, and qualify modules and sub‑modules for advanced substrate technologies.
• Collect, analyze data and design statistically valid experiments.
• Perform research and analysis in physics, troubleshoot system problems, and support field issues.
• Plan and execute feasibility studies of new technologies and complete systems.
• Guide less‑experienced physicists/scientists and participate in vendor selection and customer engagements.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in physics or related disciplines with practical engineering experience.
• Ability to lead small projects, evaluate new technologies, and provide data for risk‑management decisions.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and capability to act as an advisor for physics‑related application issues.
