Physician – Nephrologist

About the role

Ochsner is seeking a board‑certified or board‑eligible Nephrologist to join its multidisciplinary team in the Kenner‑New Orleans region. The physician will provide comprehensive kidney care, collaborate with interdisciplinary staff, and uphold Ochsner’s core values of Patients First, Integrity, Compassion, Inclusivity, Teamwork, and Excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Examine patients, diagnose renal conditions, and prescribe appropriate medications and treatment plans.
• Document patient encounters accurately in the Electronic Health Record and ensure proper coding of all visits.
• Coordinate care with other clinicians, request further evaluations, and make referrals as needed.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards, including Medicare and Medicaid regulations.

Required profile

• Board certified or eligible in Nephrology (MD/DO) and licensed to practice in Louisiana.
• Commitment to professional standards, teamwork, and continuous learning.
• Ability to travel between facilities and handle hazardous drug protocols safely.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
• Accurate medical coding and documentation.
• Prescribing and managing pharmaceutical therapies for renal patients.
