About the role

The Phlebotomy Lab Technician works the early morning shift (3:30 AM – 7:30 AM) at Akron General Medical Center, collecting blood and other specimens from out‑patient patients, preparing them for laboratory analysis, and ensuring a calm patient experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and other blood collection procedures following verified orders.
  • Label, accession, centrifuge, and package specimens for transport to the appropriate processing area.
  • Enter test requests and specimen receipt using the laboratory computer system.
  • Deliver specimens and lab supplies to designated locations and communicate essential information to staff.

Required profile

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Graduate of a Phlebotomy program or at least one year of specimen‑collection experience.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

Required skills

  • Phlebotomy and venipuncture techniques.
  • Specimen labeling, accessioning, and centrifugation.
  • Use of laboratory information systems for test entry.
