Phlebotomy Lab Technician – Day Shift

About the role

The Phlebotomy Lab Technician works in the outpatient laboratory at Akron General Medical Center, collecting blood and other specimens, preparing them for analysis, and ensuring a smooth patient experience during the day shift (7:00 am‑3:30 pm).

Key responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and other blood collection procedures following proper protocols.
• Verify order requests, label specimens accurately, and deliver them to the appropriate processing area.
• Enter test requests and specimen receipt using the lab computer system.
• Process specimens, including accessioning, centrifugation, and packaging for transport.
• Greet patients professionally, answer questions, and help reduce anxiety about needle procedures.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Graduate of a Phlebotomy program or at least one year of specimen‑collection experience.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods and maintain visual acuity.
