Payroll & Leave Administrator

About the role

The Payroll & Leave Administrator supports Texas A&M University‑Texarkana by managing payroll processing, tax compliance, and leave administration. This full‑time position ensures accurate bi‑weekly payroll, handles employee leave programs, and serves as the primary liaison for shared services with the main campus.

Key responsibilities

• Process bi‑weekly and monthly payroll, run related reports, and correct any discrepancies.
• Administer leave programs including FMLA, ADA, sick‑leave pools, and coordinate student FICA exemptions.
• Maintain payroll cost transfers, reconcile accounts with accounting, and prepare required TRS and emergency leave reports.
• Provide training and guidance to HR contacts and managers on time entry, payroll schedules, and reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• At least two years of payroll administration experience.
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills with a proactive problem‑solving approach.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and forms development.
• Experience with automated Payroll/Leave/Human Capital Management systems, preferably Workday.
• Knowledge of Texas state payroll, tax compliance, and federal leave regulations (FMLA, ADA, FLSA).
