Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) – Neuroscience Unit

About the role

The Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) works on the 3 East/3 West Neurology, Medical‑Surgical and Telemetry Unit at Marymount Hospital, providing supportive care to patients with conditions such as stroke, seizures, heart failure, COPD, renal failure and cardiac arrhythmias. The role offers a pathway to advance nursing skills within the Cleveland Clinic Health System.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal care, activities of daily living, and transfers under RN supervision.
• Take vital signs, weight, pulse oximetry, and perform point‑of‑care testing.
• Apply and remove external monitoring devices, change dressings, and manage urinary Foley catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to the RN.
• Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (must be obtained during new‑hire period if not already held).
• Eligibility for nursing students with at least one clinical rotation or relevant military medical experience.
• Physical ability to lift and move patients, stand and walk for extended periods.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) credential (preferred).
