Patient Care Nurse Assistant – Med/Surg Night Shift

About the role

The Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) works on the 2 East and 2 South med/surg units at Marymount Hospital, providing essential bedside support during night shifts. Under RN supervision, the PCNA helps ensure safe, compassionate care for patients undergoing a variety of surgical and medical procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Provide or assist with basic patient care under RN supervision, including vital signs, weight, personal care, ADLs, patient transfers, pulse oximetry, point‑of‑care testing, dressing changes, applying monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheters.
• Report any abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental or emotional condition to the supervising RN.
• Maintain patients’ rooms clean and orderly throughout the night shift (7 pm‑7:30 am) and comply with hospital safety and infection‑control protocols.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or obtain during new‑hire period.
• Proficiency in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at an eighth‑grade level.
• Physical ability to lift and move patients, stand and walk for extended periods.

Required skills
