About the role

The Phlebotomist Technician is an essential member of the Medical Laboratory Team at Marymount Hospital, providing compassionate blood collection and specimen handling for patients in the Garfield Heights area.

Key responsibilities

• Perform blood collection procedures, follow venipuncture protocols, and maintain accurate log sheets.
• Verify order requests and patient identification before drawing blood or collecting specimens.
• Label all specimens, deliver them to the appropriate processing area, and perform accessioning, centrifugation, and packaging.
• Pick up and deliver blood, other sample types, and lab supplies; float to multiple locations as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Technical proficiency with standard phlebotomy procedures and common laboratory practices.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, walk frequently, and manipulate blood‑drawing equipment.

Required skills

• Venipuncture technique.
• Specimen labeling and documentation.
• Accessioning, centrifugation, and specimen packaging.
• Use of personal protective equipment and adherence to standard precautions.
• Formal phlebotomy certification (preferred) and completion of an accredited phlebotomy program with clinical rotation (preferred).
