About the role

The Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) works in the Kemper Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Fairview Hospital, providing direct patient care under RN supervision in a fast‑paced 14‑bed ICU.

Key responsibilities

Take vital signs, record weights, and assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
Perform patient transfers, transport, pulse oximetry, point‑of‑care testing, dressing changes, and apply/remove monitoring devices.
Report abnormal findings to the RN and help keep patient rooms clean and orderly.

Required profile

High School Diploma or GED.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or obtain during new‑hire period).
Ability to read at an eighth‑grade level and perform basic math.
Physical ability to lift and move patients, stand for long periods, and meet medium‑work physical demands.

Required skills

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification (preferred).
