Patient Care Assistant – Medical Oncology (Full‑Time, A‑Shift)

About the role
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) works under the supervision of a licensed nurse to provide direct, basic patient care in the Medical Oncology unit at Phelps Health Hospital.
Key responsibilities
- Perform basic patient care tasks such as vital signs, glucometer checks, toileting, feeding, bathing and activity assistance.
- Follow hospital safety policies, including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and promptly notify nurses of any changes in patient condition.
- Document patient care activities accurately and communicate relevant information to the care team.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED (preferred).
- One year of related experience preferred; otherwise must attend the Phelps Health PCA Academy.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential in Missouri preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lb and perform frequent walking and physical tasks.
Required skills
- Basic patient care techniques (vital signs, hygiene, feeding).
- Understanding of infection control and patient safety procedures.
