Patient Access Representative – Therapy & Wellness (Elmwood Aquatics)

About the role

The Patient Access Representative greets patients and guests courteously, both by phone and in person, and manages the scheduling, registration, and admission process. This position ensures accurate demographic and insurance data collection, supports point‑of‑service collections, and helps improve overall patient satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to patients, guests, and family members.
• Create, activate, and complete patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission processes, ensuring all required forms are accurate.
• Gather and input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information, explain insurance benefits, and collect co‑pays, deductibles, and self‑pay amounts.
• Perform financial analysis for each case, inform patients of their financial responsibility, and balance the cash drawer daily.
• Adapt communication style to diverse patient populations while maintaining privacy and professionalism.
• Support multiple functions across patient and payer types, including insurance verification via electronic, telephone, or web applications.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (required); associate’s degree preferred.
• At least one year of experience in hospital, clinic, medical office, revenue cycle, front‑line registration, or related customer‑service roles.
• Preferred certifications: CHAM, CHAA, or Medical Assistant.
• Strong computer and data‑entry skills, proficient with Windows‑style applications and role‑specific software.
• Effective verbal and written communication, strong interpersonal and clerical abilities.
• Knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits, payer guidelines, and federal/state billing regulations.
• Excellent organizational, time‑management, decision‑making, and conflict‑resolution skills.
