Patient Access Representative (Part-Time, Variable Shifts)

About the role

Join Phelps Health as a Patient Access Representative, providing the first point of contact for patients and supporting their entry into the healthcare system on a part‑time, variable‑shift basis.

Key responsibilities

• Create a welcoming environment, collect accurate demographic and insurance information, and enter it into the system.
• Verify insurance coverage, obtain pre‑authorizations or referrals, and explain benefits and financial responsibilities to patients.
• Provide exceptional customer service by answering phones promptly, handling inquiries, and assisting patients with the online portal.
• Collect co‑pays, deductibles, and balance payments while ensuring HIPAA compliance and regulatory adherence.
• Maintain work queues, produce patient estimates, and adapt to shifting assignments based on business needs.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED required; medical front‑office or terminology certificate preferred.
• At least six months of office, call‑center, customer‑service, or healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to concentrate, pay close attention to detail, and perform duties under time restrictions.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, assist patients in wheelchairs, and lift up to 10 lb.
