Part-Time Bar Server

About the role

Loews Arlington Hotel, a large resort and meetings venue in Arlington's sports district serving 888 rooms, five dining venues, pools, spa services and 266,000 square feet of event space, is hiring a part-time Restaurant Bar Server. The server takes orders, serves food and beverages and creates a warm, vibrant atmosphere, working closely with bartenders and kitchen staff.

Key responsibilities

• Greet guests, present menus and give personalized food and drink recommendations
• Take accurate orders, note special requests and dietary needs, and pass them to the kitchen or bar
• Serve food and beverages promptly, keeping quality and presentation high
• Check in with guests during their stay and refill drinks
• Maintain knowledge of the menu, including specials, pairings and preparation methods
• Answer questions about food, beverages and cocktails confidently
• Process cash and card payments accurately
• Collaborate with bartenders, kitchen staff and team members
• Set up and break down bar and dining areas, restock and organize supplies, and keep tables and menus clean
• Respond promptly to guest feedback and concerns, and assist in resetting the dining area
• Attend mandatory training sessions and meetings, and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Previous experience in a food and beverage setting is required
• Knowledge of alcoholic beverages and service techniques is highly preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
• Ability to stand, stoop, bend and lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays

Required skills

• Basic proficiency with computer systems for order entry and processing
• Guest service skills and strong understanding of menu offerings and service etiquette
