Ophthalmic Technician – Central Region

About the role

Austin Retina Associates is seeking a compassionate, dependable Ophthalmic Technician to support its Central Region clinics in Austin and Bastrop. No prior ophthalmic experience is required; comprehensive training will be provided.

Key responsibilities

• Guide patients through visits, gather medical histories, and document chief complaints.
• Perform preliminary testing such as visual acuity, intraocular pressure, pupil checks, ocular motility, dilation, blood pressure, and macular OCT scans.
• Prepare examination rooms, assist physicians with in‑office treatments and procedures, and document chart notes.
• Communicate with physicians and team members to ensure efficient patient care and provide patient education.
• Support clinic operations across multiple locations, including travel between sites.

Required profile

• Demonstrates compassion, reliability, self‑motivation, and eagerness to learn.
• Clear communication skills, warm demeanor with patients, and ability to handle questions professionally.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with an unrestricted record and willingness to drive a company vehicle.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, busy environment and travel between clinics.

Required skills

• Performing visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and OCT retinal imaging.
• Use of Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Teams, scanners, and data‑management platforms.
