Occupational Therapist Assistant

About the role

The Occupational Therapist Assistant will join Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital’s multidisciplinary team, providing therapeutic services to patients of all ages across physical, cognitive, and mental health domains. Working primarily at Tradition Hospital in Port St. Lucie, the role may also involve floating to other sites as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient‑centered occupational therapy treatment under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, using evidence‑based practices.
• Communicate changes in patient status promptly to the primary therapist.
• Act as a clinical instructor and participate in the education and evaluation of students.
• Serve as a resource for volunteers, observers, and other professional staff.
• Supervise support personnel while maintaining responsibility for patient care.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree or certificate from an OTA program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
• Current state licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including walking, lifting, and maintaining balance.

Required skills

• Proficiency in occupational therapy treatment techniques.
• Clear verbal communication for patient instruction.
• Ability to observe and assess gross and fine motor movements.
