Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Well Newborn Service

About the role

Join Ochsner’s Well Newborn Service team to provide exceptional outpatient care for newborns and families. This position works in a collaborative model with residents, fellows, attendings, and staff, under the supervision of the Medical Director.

Key responsibilities

• Provide primary and urgent medical management, including emergency stabilization of critically ill patients.
• Teach residents, medical students, and staff; develop educational programs and patient education materials.
• Collaborate with PCCs, staff nurses, and discharge coordinators for care planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Nursing (NP) or Bachelor’s/Master’s in Physician Assistant studies.
• Current APRN license (Family or Adult/Geriatric NP) or PA license with NCCPA certification.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Eligible for prescriptive authority as defined by the State Board of Nursing.

Required skills

• Computer proficiency for data entry and retrieval, including Windows‑style applications.
• Basic and advanced cardiovascular life support certifications.
• Prescriptive authority eligibility.
