MRI Technologist

About the role

Ochsner is seeking an MRI Technologist to join its compassionate, inclusive team in Slidell, Louisiana. The role focuses on maintaining safety in the MRI environment, performing routine scans, and mentoring junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Verify physician orders, explain procedures to patients, and operate MRI equipment according to protocol.
• Review images for diagnostic quality, perform quality‑control checks, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Assist with departmental operations such as inventory, scheduling, and equipment maintenance.
• Provide mentorship to junior staff and students, and travel between facilities as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• ARRT registration or equivalent imaging certification; advanced MRI certification required within two years of hire.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MRI operation and safety procedures.
• Computer and software proficiency for radiology information systems.
• Knowledge of MRI technical language and cardiac anatomy basics.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
