Non Registered EEG Technician

About the role

The Non Registered EEG Technician supports neurologic diagnostics by performing electroencephalography and related monitoring procedures for patients with epilepsy, seizures, sleep disorders, brain injuries and other conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Select predetermined electrode montages, recognize artifacts and eliminate them.
• Monitor additional variables such as EMG, ECG, EOG, respiration during recordings.
• Operate video recording equipment, ensure proper focus, lighting and audio.
• Set up patients for continuous bedside monitoring with video when indicated.
• Instruct nursing staff on event button usage and video care.
• Abstract relevant clinical information and obtain additional patient data.

Required profile

• Associate's Degree in Electroneurodiagnostics or related field (or two years direct patient care experience).
• Obtain ABRET Registered EEG Technologist credential within two years of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• EEG electrode placement and montage selection.
• Artifact recognition and correction.
• Operation of EMG, ECG, EOG, respiration monitoring equipment.
• Video recording setup and management.
• Manual dexterity for precise electrode placement.
