New Grad RN Resident - Med/Surg & Telemetry

About the role

The New Grad RN Resident will join the Med/Surg & Telemetry unit at Fairview Hospital, providing acute inpatient care to adult patients. This one‑year residency offers hands‑on training, simulation labs, and mentorship to develop competent bedside nurses.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in a residency core curriculum tailored to individual learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach, documenting all patient interactions.
• Establish and revise patient care priorities based on acuity, preferences, and resource availability.
• Respond to clinical data indicating patient risk and take corrective action.
• Seek supervision or assistance when tasks cannot be performed safely.
• Maintain accurate documentation in patients’ medical records.

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or Red Cross.
• New graduate or less than one year of acute direct‑care RN experience.
• Willingness to work night shifts (7 pm–7:30 am) with rotating weekends/holidays.
