New Grad RN Resident – Med/Surg & Post-Op Surgery

About the role

The New Grad RN Resident will join Fairview Hospital’s Parkview III Complex Medical Care unit, providing care for post‑operative patients on a night shift. This position is part of a one‑year accredited Nurse Residency program.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Participate in the residency core curriculum tailored to individual learning needs.
• Establish and revise patient‑care priorities based on acuity, preference and resources.
• Respond to clinical data indicating patient risk and initiate corrective actions.
• Seek supervision or assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
• Document all care activities accurately in patients’ medical records.

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN or BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) if hired into critical‑care area.
• New graduate or less than one year of RN experience, or RN transitioning to acute inpatient care with less than one year experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
