MRI Technologist – Evening Shift with Call

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking an MRI Technologist to join the Radiology department at Akron General Medical Center. This full‑time, second‑shift position works evenings with occasional weekend call, providing patient‑centered MRI services using advanced technology.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine MRI examinations and procedures on patients of all ages, ensuring comfort, safety, and clear communication.
• Review patient questionnaires and requisitions to identify contraindications and verify exam protocols.
• Conduct daily quality assurance (QA) on MRI equipment and report any malfunctions or service needs.
• Process billing through the Radiology Information System (RIS) and maintain equipment uptime.
• Mentor new hires and radiology students, and attend in‑service and professional development sessions.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Current ARRT registration (R.T.(R), R.T.(S), R.T.(T) or R.T.(N)) or CNMT certification.
• Certification in MRI (R.T.(MR)(ARRT)) to be obtained within one year of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy and related pathology.

Required skills

• Operation of MRI scanners and adherence to imaging protocols.
• Performing equipment QA and troubleshooting.
• Using RIS for billing and documentation.
• Patient education and safety monitoring during MRI procedures.
