Mobile Equipment Operator 2

About the role

The Mobile Equipment Operator 2 is responsible for safely operating large mowers and tractors on the LSU campus and designated off‑site locations. The role emphasizes safe operation around pedestrians, preventive maintenance, and readiness for inspection at any time.

Key responsibilities

• Operate large mowers and tractors (25‑125 HP) equipped with bush hogs, flails, finish mower decks, and side bush hogs for campus mowing activities.
• Assist landscape and construction crews with various grounds‑maintenance tasks.
• Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning, greasing, minor repairs, and maintain accurate equipment records.
• Ensure equipment is ready for inspection and comply with safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including overtime and weekend work.

Required profile

• Minimum one year of experience operating mobile equipment.
• Valid Louisiana Class E driver’s license.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and lift up to 50 lb.
• Willingness to undergo drug/alcohol testing and comply with emergency reporting requirements.

Required skills

• Operation of large mowers and tractors (25‑125 HP).
• Preventive maintenance and minor equipment repairs.
