Medical Technologist / MLT / Lab Technician IV

About the role

The Medical Technologist/MLT/Lab Technician IV provides high‑complexity laboratory testing at Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital. This PRN position works variable night shifts (6 pm‑6 am) and supports patient care through accurate test performance and result interpretation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and interpret laboratory tests of all complexity levels following established procedures.
• Maintain regulatory knowledge, adhere to quality control policies, and document instrument calibrations and maintenance.
• Identify and resolve quality control or performance issues, notifying supervisors as needed.
• Conduct proficiency testing in compliance with CLIA regulations and retain accurate records.
• Provide education and training on laboratory theory, techniques, and safety protocols to students and staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science/technology from an accredited institution.
• Meets CLIA high‑complexity testing personnel qualifications (grandfathering clause).
• Certification or eligibility for certification as a Medical Technologist (MT, MLT, MLS) through ASCP or AMT preferred.
• Physical ability to handle specimens, operate microscopes, and stand for long periods.
