Medical Technologist / Lab Technician – Night Shift

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a dedicated Medical Technologist/MLT/Lab Technician to join the laboratory team at Akron General Medical Center. This night‑shift position (11:00 pm‑7:30 am) involves performing and interpreting a wide range of laboratory tests to support patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and interpret laboratory tests of all complexity levels, following established procedures for specimen handling, processing, and reporting.
• Maintain regulatory compliance, quality control documentation, instrument calibrations, and proficiency testing in accordance with CLIA regulations.
• Identify and resolve test performance issues or promptly notify supervisory staff.
• Provide education and training to students, residents, and staff on laboratory techniques and safety protocols.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science/technology from an accredited institution.
• Meets CLIA qualifications for high‑complexity testing personnel (grandfathering clause).
  *Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT, MLT, or MLS) or eligibility for certification through ASCP or AMT is preferred.
