Medical Assistant/LPN – Internal Medicine

About the role

This full‑time position supports the Guided Access Primary Care program at Marymount Hospital, an acute‑care, faith‑based facility in Garfield Heights, Ohio. The role can be filled by a qualified Medical Assistant or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and involves direct patient care, screenings, and administrative duties.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with health maintenance screenings, medication updates, allergy information, specimen collection, and documentation of patient care.
• Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition to the care team.
• Maintain equipment, medical supplies, and examination areas.
• Perform clerical duties such as filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
• For LPNs: provide patient care under RN/physician direction, complete nursing assessments, implement care plans, administer medications, observe for adverse reactions, perform routine lab tests, and educate patients and families.

Required profile

• Graduate of an approved medical assisting program or military hospital corpsman/medic training, with clinical externship or extensive experience.
• Current Ohio LPN license (for LPN candidates) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Preferred: Medical assisting certification, successful completion of a Cleveland Clinic externship, and at least one year of patient‑care experience.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Medical assisting certification or equivalent training.
