Medical Assistant – Float Pool (Part‑Time)

About the role

Phelps Health is seeking a part‑time Medical Assistant to join its Float Pool, providing direct patient care across multiple clinic locations. The role supports physicians, APPs, and nursing staff by performing clinical and administrative tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, perform EKGs, collect specimens, and administer medications (oral, IM, SQ) as ordered.
• Document patient information, including medical history and visit reason, accurately in the electronic chart.
• Escort patients, schedule appointments, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures, and handle prior authorizations and referrals.
• Communicate test results to patients, answer questions, and assist physicians with follow‑up calls.
• Maintain exam room supplies, clean areas, and educate patients on MyChart enrollment.

Required profile

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience; high school diploma required.
• One year of medical assistant or related clinical experience preferred.
• Registered or Certified Medical Assistant credential preferred; Basic Life Support certification required.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lb, stand for long periods, and work in environments with exposure to infectious materials.
