Medical Assistant – Float Pool (Full-Time, Day Shift)

About the role

Phelps Health is seeking a versatile Medical Assistant to work in a float pool, covering multiple clinic locations on a full‑time, day‑shift schedule. The role supports physicians, APPs, and nursing staff by delivering direct patient care and ensuring smooth clinic operations.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, perform EKGs, collect specimens, and administer oral, IM, and SQ medications as ordered.
• Document patient histories, allergies, and visit reasons accurately in the electronic health record.
• Escort patients, answer phone inquiries, and act as a liaison between providers and patients, including communicating test results.
• Schedule appointments, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures, and complete prior authorizations and referrals.
• Maintain exam room supplies, clean areas, and assist with new staff orientation.

Required profile

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience; high school diploma required.
• One year of medical assistant or related clinical experience preferred.
• Registered or Certified Medical Assistant (RMA/CMA) preferred; AHA Basic Life Support certification required.

Required skills

• EKG acquisition and interpretation.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
