About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Market Grille Cook in Plymouth. The cook prepares fresh, hot and cold menu items from prep to plate, keeps the food case stocked and makes sure every order is prepared with care. The role suits someone who enjoys a fast-paced kitchen environment and takes pride in quality food.

Key responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greeting customers by name
• Prepare cooking surfaces and menu items including vegetables, sides, meats, breakfast foods and heat-and-eat varieties
• Place food in hot cases, monitor amounts and refill as needed during the shift
• Take guest orders and stay up to date on all menu items
• Prepare items for upcoming shifts and maintain a thorough understanding of the Market Grille operation
• Follow proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized
• Order product and supplies or notify managers of needs, and work as a team with co-workers
• Assist in other parts of the store, take on special projects, and adhere to Hy-Vee policies and dress standards
• Report to work on schedule and on time

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent experience required
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience; training is provided
• Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades, and to handle heat and burn hazards from cooking equipment
• Ability to operate a delivery vehicle in line with DOT standards
• Physical demands include frequent standing and walking, repetitive standing, walking, reaching and bending, and exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen

The anticipated hourly starting wage is $14.00 to $17.50 depending on experience. The position reports to the Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers, Food Service Manager and Market Grille Department Manager.
