Market Grille Clerk

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Market Grille Clerk in Plymouth. The clerk serves fresh, made-to-order food at the Market Grille counter and keeps the line running smoothly by managing orders, handling food safely and working as part of a team. The role is in a busy store kitchen environment with exposure to noise, equipment movement, temperature extremes and cleaning chemicals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greet customers and answer the telephone, including taking product orders
• Review daily orders, anticipate product needs and prepare and replenish products
• Pull product from the cooler or freezer, check its freshness and appearance, and handle food safely
• Maintain a clean, sanitary work area, check in product, put it away and review invoices
• Run the department register, receive payment and make change
• Price and order product, deliver orders, remove trash and wash dishes as needed
• Work as a team, assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned
• Follow Hy-Vee policies, dress standards and hygiene rules, and report to work on time

Required profile

• Able to follow written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few variables
• Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures and count and record accurately
• Team player who communicates supply needs orally or in writing
• No education requirement; six months or less of similar or related experience; prior food service experience is a plus
• Frequent standing and walking, and where applicable, safe use of sharp knives and blades, exposure to heat and burn hazards, and ability to operate a delivery vehicle under DOT standards

What we offer

• Anticipated hourly starting wage of $13.50 to $16.80 depending on experience
• All training provided; employment is contingent on a pre-employment drug screen
