Donut Finisher - Bakery

About the role

The Donut Finisher works in the Bakery department of a Hy-Vee store in Plymouth and keeps the bakery case stocked with fresh, finished donuts, bagels and danishes. The role involves glazing, icing and garnishing, and also includes friendly customer service at the counter and in the store. The starting hourly wage is $13.50 to $16.80 depending on experience.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and provide prompt, friendly service at the counter and elsewhere in the store
• Prepare the work area and equipment for donut finishing at the start of each shift
• Take donuts and rolls out of the freezer, place danishes and cinnamon rolls in the proof box, and heat them in the oven before icing and garnishing
• Glaze and ice donuts and rolls for the bakery case
• Review special orders and prepare them as needed
• Prepare icings and the glazing area for the next day
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow personal hygiene and dress standards
• Answer the telephone promptly and help customers at the counter and in other parts of the store
• Follow Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines, report to work on time, and follow safety training

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent experience
• Six months or less of similar or related experience; training is provided
• Ability to follow written, verbal or diagrammatic instructions and to perform simple addition and subtraction accurately
• Ability to work as part of a team and to follow verbal or demonstrated directions
• Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades, and to work around ovens and glazing equipment
• Frequent standing, walking, reaching and bending during the shift
