Maintenance Technician II - Fresh Assembly

About the role

Meijer is hiring a Maintenance Technician II for its Fresh Assembly in Lansing. The role improves, maintains and repairs all equipment used in manufacturing, production and packaging, using root cause analysis to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and process issues and applying a proactive continuous improvement approach.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning, scheduling and maintenance activities.
• Maintain water treatment and distribution systems, on-demand boiler functions, process water systems, boilers and compressed air.
• Keep regulatory and compliance records for all systems.
• Perform routine and emergency major and minor maintenance of utility systems in multi-craft environments, including PLCs, instrumentation, mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Handle electrical work at 480VAC, 220/240VAC, 120/208VAC and 24VDC, and general equipment repair.
• Carry out preventive maintenance and complete work orders on time.
• Follow 200% safety accountability in self and others, and perform other duties asked by the Maintenance Manager.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3-5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Previous food manufacturing maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to work in a cold environment.
• Related technical field experience or certification preferred.

Required skills

• Understanding of electrical schematics and ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits and controls.
• Knowledge of manufacturing, production, packaging and labeling equipment.
• Knowledge of SQF, GMPs, LOTO, 5S and Lean Manufacturing.
• MIG, TIG welding, fabrication, joining and repair of metals, including stainless steel for food-grade applications.
