Maintenance Level 1 Operator

About the role

Meijer is hiring a Level 1 utility worker for its maintenance department in Lansing. This is a general-duty position at a basic skill level, assisting mechanics, doing general cleaning and rebuilding parts, and operating conveyors. Candidates must be willing to work holidays, weekends and modified schedules, including overtime.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the conveyor
• Perform lockout/tag-out certification
• Carry out conveyor sanitation and preventative maintenance tasks
• Assist mechanics as needed
• Follow proper safety guidelines and practice 200% safety accountability for self and others
• Perform other duties as required under immediate supervision
• Work in hot and cold environments

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree in a technical field or related field preferred
• Ability to lift 70 lbs
• Ability to work with little or no supervision
• Self-starter with problem-solving skills
• Good communication skills to work as a team
