LST Paramedic – Emergency Medical Services

About the role

The LST Paramedic provides immediate medical assessment and treatment to patients with critical injuries or illnesses, both on‑site and during transport to Medina Hospital. This position operates on a 24‑hour on/48‑hour off schedule, ensuring rapid response and continuous patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and treat injured or ill patients on‑scene, during transport, and at the hospital following EMS protocols.
• Navigate ambulances to emergency scenes, maintain equipment, restock supplies, and keep ambulances clean.
• Administer life‑support procedures, decontamination, fluid/drug therapy, obtain EKG readings, and monitor vital signs.
• Communicate patient status to hospital medical personnel, complete hand‑off reports, and document observations.

Required profile

• Completion of an accredited EMS‑Paramedic training program and current Ohio EMTP licensure.
• Three years of EMT‑Paramedic experience (or equivalent combination of EMT‑P and EMT experience).
• Valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to work 24‑hour on/48‑hour off shifts, including nights and weekends.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
• Completion of a USDOT‑approved Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) within six months of hire.
