Law Enforcement Officer – Kansas City

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City is seeking a self‑motivated Law Enforcement Officer to protect personnel, assets, and operations. This position involves routine patrols, access control, and rapid response to incidents while supporting the bank’s physical security infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe environment by assessing and mitigating physical security risks.
• Respond to disturbances, emergencies, and potentially life‑threatening situations, applying appropriate force when necessary.
• Control access to the bank and high‑security areas, inspecting individuals, property, and vehicles.
• Conduct interior and exterior security patrols and checks.
• Operate and monitor law‑enforcement and life‑safety systems, including CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, x‑ray machines, metal detectors, biometric readers, radio communications, fire alarms, public address systems, and fire extinguishers.
• Prepare detailed incident reports and may rotate into roles such as canine handler, instructor, or field training officer.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, with overtime and shift rotations as needed.

Required skills

• Operation of CCTV and video surveillance systems.
• Access control and intrusion detection system management.
• Use of x‑ray machines, metal detectors, and biometric readers.
• Radio communication system proficiency.
• Fire alarm and public address system operation.
• Basic computer skills, including email and Microsoft Office applications.
