Lab Technician II – Evening/Night Shift

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Lab Technician II to join the Fairview Hospital laboratory team. This position works the evening/night rotation, providing critical diagnostic support for patient care. You will operate sophisticated laboratory equipment and ensure accurate specimen processing.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, accession, and sort laboratory specimens using the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Perform manual processing tasks such as centrifugation, aliquoting, and routine equipment maintenance.
• Prepare specimens for analysis, accept or reject them based on quality criteria, and resolve specimen issues.
• Operate microscopes, cell counters, automated analyzers, and other computerized equipment to test blood, body fluids, and microbiological samples.
• Document and track specimen data accurately, and communicate results to physicians.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of laboratory experience (associate degree can substitute for up to one year).
• Ability to work evening/night, weekend, and holiday rotations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with microscopes and cell counters.
• Experience using automated laboratory analyzers and computerized LIS.
• Manual specimen processing skills including centrifugation and aliquoting.
• Basic visual acuity and manual dexterity for handling specimens and equipment.
