Human Resources Intern

About the role

Barilla's 2027 Summer Internship Program offers a 10-12-week paid internship in its US Human Resources group at the Corporate Americas headquarters in Northbrook, IL. The intern works alongside experienced professionals on challenging projects and gains insight into food manufacturing. The position follows a hybrid model: three days per week onsite (Core Days Monday and Wednesday, plus one other day depending on the role), with arrangements subject to change.

Key responsibilities

• Appreciative Feedback Program: develop engaging communications and gather insights to improve the initiative
• Employee file and compliance: maintain accurate records and support compliance through regular I-9 audits and documentation reviews
• Learning and development: identify and coordinate a learning course for the interns during the summer
• Employer branding: update employer branding pages with refreshed content based on best-practice research
• Wellness and inclusion programs: help plan and evaluate initiatives supporting employee well-being

Required profile

• Junior year completed in college, with a concentration in Human Resources, Management or Business Administration
• Experience handling confidential matters
• Prior human resources experience is a plus
• Ability to work independently, in teams and with strong communication skills

Required skills

• Project management and time management
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Advanced Excel with formulas and pivot tables is a plus
