Housekeeping Houseperson

About the role

The Loews Vanderbilt Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee, is looking for a Housekeeping Houseperson. The hotel supports 341 upscale rooms, two dining venues and 24,000 sq. ft. of event space, and the housekeeping team keeps public guest room areas clean and promotes good public relations.

Key responsibilities

• Clean all public guest room areas of the hotel as assigned, maintaining a friendly, positive attitude and recognizing returning guests.
• Follow housekeeping policies and procedures, including proper radio etiquette and handling HotSOS and other requests via the radio.
• Help room attendants empty trash and soiled linen from housekeeping carts.
• Maintain public restrooms, lobby levels, ashtrays, elevators, stairwells, entrances and hallways, and clean back-of-the-house windows as needed.
• Vacuum guest hallways daily, use chemicals according to department procedures, and keep linen closets clean, stocked and organized.
• Bring trash to the compactor at the end of the day, wash guest room glassware and deliver it to the linen closet, and bring dirty glassware to housekeeping at the end of the shift.
• Attend departmental meetings, trainings and hotel meetings, and notify supervisors promptly of problems.
• Execute emergency procedures, comply with safety regulations and hotel policies, recycle whenever possible, and stay current on hotel information.

Required profile

• Previous experience is an asset.
• Able to work as part of a quality-driven team and to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
• Customer-service oriented with excellent hospitality skills; basic English language skills.
• Physical demands: standing and walking over 2/3 of the time, lifting and carrying up to 150 pounds, and special vision requirements (close, distance, peripheral and depth vision).
