About the role

The Health Unit Coordinator provides high‑level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff in the Birthing Center, ensuring smooth operational flow and a positive patient experience during night shifts.

Key responsibilities

  • Greet, orient and welcome newly admitted or transferred patients.
  • Respond promptly to patient call lights and make patient rounds.
  • Facilitate communication among patients, families, departments and the health‑care team.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges and concierge services.
  • Maintain patient medical records and perform unit clerical functions.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures such as call systems, phones and WOW devices.

Required profile

  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of customer‑service experience.
  • Ability to work independently in a stressful, fast‑paced environment.
  • Full range of motion, manual dexterity and ability to stand/walk for long periods.

Required skills

  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Typing and basic computer skills.
